A note from Felicia Tindal, photographer and designer of the calendar:

Everyone in this calendar shares one thing: Type 1 diabetes.  Along with Type 1 diabetes comes memories of the day that you were diagnosed.  I can vividly remember the day my daughter, Riley, was diagnosed - July 1, 2009.  I remember being worried, frightened, and even a bit angry.  I wanted to know what living with diabetes would mean for my child.  I wanted to know if I had done something wrong as a parent.  I wanted to know if others in this situation felt the same things I was going through.  Most of all, I wanted to know what my family could do to help.

A few months later, I received an answer to one of my questions in the form of a special gift - a calendar.  My brother-in-law, Joseph, was featured in a calendar to raise money for The Down Syndrome Family Connection (DSFC), a foundation that he is a member of.  I loved everything about that calendar - the photography, the design, and most of all the opportunity to raise money for a wonderful organization.

Fast forward to the 2010 Spring Family Camp weekend at the DYFI campgrounds in Noblesville, Indiana.  My husband and I were speaking with Julie Shutt, the executive director of the DYFI, and asking what families like ours could do to help.  That is when it all came together.  With the permission, help, and tremendous support of Rosalie Sherwood Founds (the designer of the DSFC calendar and owner/designer of High Rez Designs www.highrezdesigns.com), our calendar for the DYFI was born.  Rosalie has been such a blessing to me and I will be forever thankful for her generosity.

This calendar has been a close part of me for the last few months, and I sincerely hope that you will enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed creating it.  Read each person’s personal story.  See that they are just like everyone else.  Be touched by how strong they are.  And most of all, know that you are supporting a wonderful cause.  One hundred percent of the profits from every calendar that is sold will go directly to provide scholarships to underprivileged children so that they can attend the only locally owned camp designed for children with Type 1 diabetes.

Thank you for your support,
Felicia Tindal, Photographer & Designer of the first ever DYFI Calendar
